How is a Financial Coach different from financial advisers?

Financial Coaches partner with you to help you move forward with your financial goals...

Financial Coaching is not therapy, counseling or financial advice.

Our Financial Coaches empower you to make your own financial choices and discern the world of financial advice and products yourself. They partner with you without the intention to sell you financial products - they ensure every session is focused on YOU.

Financial Advisers, on the other hand, manage your money for you and, most often, recommend and sell financial products in the process.

This excerpt from a blogpost by Garrett Philbin in Michael Kitces' Blog Nerd's Eye View explains it well:

"Financial advisors tend to focus on implementing financial products and strategies, while financial coaches focus more on the basics of personal money management, behavioral change, and accountability to a client-driven spending plan. And, while financial advisors most commonly help to manage wealth that already exists, a financial coach’s job is to provide a client the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that will help them build wealth in the first place.

Another major difference between financial coaching and advising is that coaches typically have no tie-in with products at all; they do not manage investments, nor sell insurance. Financial coaches might educate clients on the basic concepts of insurance, investing, diversification (which isn't financial advice, by the way), but never provide specific recommendations on where to invest (which is financial advice)."

Financial coaches use deep non-judgmental listening, reflective questions and financial coaching tools to help you maximize your potential to make financial choices and meet life goals.

Speak your Heart

Where do you want to be?

Knowing the deeper motivation- the WHY- of your goals can help you stay on track to achieve them.

A Financial Coach can hold a confidential space for you to be open and honest about what is most important to you in life. Your dreams, your aspirations, your goals, your values, your purpose.

Because most of us don't have financial goals. We have life goals with financial implications.

Take Stock of the Present

Where are you now?
